w/PETE CHURCHILL (UK) & INGRID JAMES (AUSTRALIA)

Pete Churchill (UK)–composer, pianist, singer and teacher for 30 years joins Ingrid James (voice specialist, jazz vocalist from Brisbane) for a beautiful summer workshop hosted by the Adelaide Jazz Club. Pete is now Professor of Jazz Composition at the Royal Academy of Music and Head of Jazz Voice at the Brussels Royal Conservatoire and Ingrid, a jazz vocalist/voice educator, holds a Master of Vocal Pedagogy from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

LET’S MOVE & SING! (warm up and technique w/Ingrid James)

HOW TO MAKE THE WORDS DANCE (w/Pete) – Move in a way that informs our music making. Movement & music, the dance & the song, are inseparable & singing together should be about connecting the body & the text.

AROUND THE CIRCLE (w/Ingrid)–A couple of fun games to help our listening skills and get back into the zone after the break!

SINGING AGAINST THE CLOCK! (w/Pete)–His session will be delivered entirely by ear & is open to all soloists, choir members, choir leaders, etc., Focussing on styles that range from Gospel through Jazz, Soul, Reggae & beyond, this promises to be a high energy workshop that will be both inspirational & informative. You will be amazed at how much music can be made from scratch in such a short time!
