Intuitive Vocal Improvisation – Monthly Sundays

The root of the workshop is Vocal Tai Chi which Jenni founded in 2012. Now expanding into a practice that includes 'directed vocal improvisation' using hand signals drawn from Jenni's other voice project TIC! The Improvisers' Choir, founded in 2015. Together VTC and TIC! become IVI: Intuitive Vocal Improvisation.
We work for four hours from 2 pm - 6 pm. Starting with a check in and warm ups. we end the first half before tea having learned the 'four floors of the vocal house,' expanded that map into an experimental navigation of the whole voice and culminating group practice that combine those with hand signal improvisation choir practice as well.
The TIC signals are a way for improvisers to follow an emergent form using some agreed indications and allowing one member of the group at a time to direct the singers on a shaped journey of vocal improvisation.
