The Embodied Voice Winter Weekend Retreat

This winter, Join Kate Smith at Biovilla, Portugal to rest, explore, and rediscover your embodied voice through sound, improvisation, and mindful play. All levels welcome - bring your curiosity, presence, and willingness to play.

Led by Kate Smith, this retreat offers time and space to reconnect with your voice — not just as sound, but as a living expression of your body, your story, and your connection with others. Through playful exploration, vocal improvisation, somatic practice, and deep listening, we’ll rediscover what it means to sound and be heard, to move and be moved.

What ?
- Around 16 hours of guided sessions weaving voice, somatic awareness, movement, and group improvisation.
- Practices drawn from Body-Mind Centering, Alexander Technique, yoga, and free movement — supporting groundedness, curiosity, and creative flow.
- Improvisational and musical explorations that invite both beginners and experienced singers to find freedom and connection through sound.
- A warm, inclusive atmosphere where you can rest, play, and create in community.
- Time in nature, delicious organic meals, and deep rest in the heart of the Serra da Arrábida.

Where ?
The weekend takes place at Biovilla, a beautiful eco-community in the Parque Natural da Serra da Arrábida, near Palmela (45 mins south of Lisbon). Biovilla offers comfortable shared accommodation (double or triple rooms, with all linens and towels provided), organic meals, and spaces designed for regeneration and connection. You’ll have access to the gardens, pool, and forest trails — ideal for quiet moments or joyful wandering between sessions.

This retreat welcomes singers, movers, teachers, facilitators, healers, and anyone curious about voice, embodiment, and creative expression. You don’t need to “be a singer” — only open to exploring what your voice can reveal when it’s met with presence and play.
