In person event
Join an improvised choir where music, singing, and body percussion become tools for collective expression through the Rhythm with Signs method.
The Workshop:
Led by Argentinian singer and choir leader Aixa Figini, this workshop uses Rhythm with Signs, a sign language that enables real-time musical improvisation. Participants explore individual and collective creativity through voice, rhythm, and body percussion, learning traditional songs and rhythms from around the world. The sessions foster listening skills, coordination, and creativity, while encouraging participants to embrace mistakes as part of the creative process.
The Method
Rhythm with Signs, developed in 2005 by Argentinian musician Santiago Vazquez, is a sign language for coordinating rhythmic improvisations. Using over 130 hand and body signs, the conductor guides musicians in creating spontaneous compositions. This method is widely adopted in over 30 countries for its pedagogical and innovative approach to music making.
