Voice DNA: A Solstice Journey of Voice and Connection

On the longest day of the year, we gather to open the voice, not as performance, but as a portal.

This is a guided, embodied journey into sound, presence, and connection.
A space to soften the inner critic, awaken your creative energy, and experience the voice as something alive, instinctive, and shared.

Uran Apak, an Istanbul-born, London-based artist, facilitator and co-founder of the UK Vocal Improv Festival and creator of Voice DNA, will be your guide on this journey.

No experience needed.

What to expect:

Through breath, sound, and gentle facilitation, we’ll explore:

-Voice as a tool for grounding and nervous system regulation
-Sound as a gateway into play, expression, and altered states
-Group vocal improvisation as a practice of connection and co-creation
-A safe, held space where you can be heard without needing to perform

We’ll move between simple guided exercises, playful vocal exploration, and collective sound journeys using a loop station, allowing moments of both depth and lightness.

This is not about singing “well”.
It’s about remembering that your voice and curiosity is already enough.

For this event Uran will prepare a custom solstice sound journey using sound healing instruments, electronics and live looping which will be activated with guided collective voice and movement.

Why voice?

The voice sits at the meeting point of body, emotion, and expression.

When we free the voice:

we regulate the nervous system
we release held tension
we reconnect with spontaneity and joy
we experience ourselves in relation to others, without masks
For many, this can feel surprisingly expansive, sometimes even resembling the openness and connection people associate with psychedelic states.
